Local officials and community leaders from South King County will meet with the Washington State Transportation Commission on Tuesday, which will include discussions on transportation effects on the local economy.

Specifically, a discussion of economic development in the Kent Valley area will be on the agenda, as well as a panel on the effects of Sounder service on downtown Kent.

Representatives from other area communities — namely Federal Way, Auburn, Des Moines and Maple Valley — will also be in attendance to provide transportation briefings for their respective areas.

The public meeting is from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Council Chambers, Kent City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S. Persons wishing to speak to the commission may do so during the public comment period, scheduled for 4:40 p.m.
