If you’re looking for a free ride in downtown Tacoma, you might soon be out of luck.
Ridership has been increasing on the Link light rail, so Sound Transit is considering charging fares, according to The Tacoma News Tribune.
The Tribune reports Sound Transit Board members will make a decision about whether to implement fare collection, and, if so, how much tickets will cost at a meeting late next month. The Link is currently Sound Transit’s only fare-free service.
Analysts are recommending a fare between $1 and $2 for adults, with lower rates for children, seniors and individuals with disabilities.
If board members approve a fare, will you pay up or stop riding?
