John Wolfe, the chief executive at Port of Tacoma and Northwest Seaport Alliance, received the 2017 Connie Award during a trade conference in Long Beach, Calif., this week.

His efficiency and ground-breaking staff direction as Port of Seattle joined with its Tacoma former competitor to form a joint maritime cargo marketing organization was cited in this award.

“This is an incredible honor for John and The Northwest Seaport Alliance,” said Tom Albro, Port of Seattle commission president and co-chair of the Alliance. “As the two ports took a bold step to collectively come together two years ago, we were confident in putting John to lead an organization that would accomplish great things.”

A video shown at the dinner delivered remarks from shipping industry executives and port customers, as well as John Wolfe himself. It shows a nice collection of Puget Sound maritime operations and background on Northwest Seaport Alliance. You can view the video at this YouTube link.

The Connie Awards are presented by Containerization & Intermodal Institute based in the southern California port area. Wolfe collected the honor at an industrywide dinner last night during Intermodal EXPO.
