Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics has been recognized for outstanding efforts to reduce patient harm and improve patient safety by the Washington State Hospital Association.

MGH&FC earned the 2013 “Washington State Hospital Association Safe Care in Action” award for its efforts while participating in the “Partnership for Patients” national initiative, a nationwide collaborative effort to reduce the number of hospital-acquired conditions by 40 percent and hospital readmissions by 20 percent by the end of 2013.

The initiative focuses on decreasing patient harm in 10 key areas, including adverse drug injuries from falls and immobility, pressure ulcers and surgical site infections.

MGH&FC is one of 16 WSHA hospitals to receive the award.

“Our hospital staff, administration and hospital commissioners take patient safety seriously,” said Eric Moll, CEO of MGH&FC after receiving the award. “We are pleased to have our efforts recognized by our peers. This work helps us establish best practices in our hospital so that they become second nature, which is great news for patients.”
