A new radio show on KLAY AM 1180 is geared towards helping active duty, retired military and their spouses look for their next career.

The Boots2Work program, which began airing last week from 11 a.m. to noon on Saturday mornings, is hosted by Mic Stump, a workforce development professional for over 30 years. Stump will discuss resumes, interview techniques, personal marketing, completing online applications and other topics for military personnel in support of their transition to the world of civilian employment.

Guests on the show will include career development specialists from WorkForce Central and business leaders actively hiring veterans.

According to Marta Gronlund, communications director for Workforce Central, the show was launched in part to help build up toward and prepare military personnel for the Boots2Work Military Career Fair, co-hosted by WorkForce Central and the Tacoma Rainiers on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at Cheney Stadium from 9am to 3pm. One thousand transitioning military, spouses and veterans expected to attend, according to an email from Gronlund.

“This career fair is different in that employer exhibitors will have jobs to offer and attendees will be prepped with resumes and interview skills,” stated Shellie Willis, event organizer for WorkForce Central.  “We want people to get that offer or interview. We want people to know it is possible.”
