Tacoma-Seattle-Bellevue tops all West Coast metropolitan areas in a third-quarter report issued today by United States Census Bureau. Boeing aircraft delivered to customers around the world account for the large majority of regional exports, with soybeans a distant second, followed (in order) by corn and wheat.

More than double the dollar volume of the San Francisco Bay area, the export activity from Puget Sound MSA just edged out Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim in the ranking for three months ended Sept. 30th. The Northwest last led a year ago and year-to-date for 2017, Southern California still is ahead by a bit.

For western Washington, Census Bureau data accountants show $15.580 billion in exports valuation this most recent completed quarter, while urban Los Angeles tallied $15.513 billion.
