As expected, Olympia’s Providence St. Peter Hospital and Fairfax Behavioral Health of Everett ended June by filing a joint application to the state seeking a Certificate of Need to open a new 85-bed psychiatric hospital in Thurston County.
The extensive paperwork went to State Department of Health officials, who must weigh this application with another filed earlier by U.S. HealthVest, a private, for-profit behavioral healthcare provider based in Chicago.
If approved, the new joint venture called Olympia Behavioral Health LLC would open in early 2018, according to a news release, and would serve both voluntary and involuntary patients ages five and older. Two potential sites in Lacey have been identified for the estimated 55,000 gross share-feet facility.
Providence and Fairfax have already partnered in similar programs in Snohomish and Spokane counties.
