Tom Pierson has been leading Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce since June 27, but today marked his first time speaking publicly since taking the position.

He was one of many speakers at the City Center Luncheon on local transportation issues.

“Transportation is obviously key to our revitalization and continued growth into our downtown,” Pierson said.
But he also used this opportunity to share with the crowd his vision for the chamber and the area. Specifically he said he would work with the Economic Development Board by helping bring new businesses in, helping educate owners of small companies so they can grow their businesses and bringing together all types of leaders within the city and county.

“If we could harness the power of our political folks and political abilities that we have in this region … and harness the partnerships and bring people around the table that have been tapped or yet to be tapped, we could all look beyond today and look to tomorrow,” Pierson said. “That tomorrow will be here soon.”
