Puget Sound Energy has announced that Andy Wappler, a popular local broadcaster and accredited meteorologist, will help its effort to raise public awareness of the need for energy efficiency and greater use of renewable energy sources. Wappler, who comes to PSE after being chief meteorologist for Seattle’s KIRO-TV, will be a senior public relations manager for the utility. He will also head up the utility’s speakers bureau.
Columbia Bank has hired Nancy Skagg as the branch manager of its downtown Gig Harbor branch. Skagg has more than 15 years of experience. Prior to her recent return to Columbia Bank she managed Kitsap Bank in Gig Harbor.
Kim Cory, a senior at Steilacoom High School, has been recognized as Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Lakewood. Cory was elected junior class treasurer and this year is president of the Associated Student Body. She participates in athletes and was elected captain of both the cross-country and fast-pitch teams. In the past three years, she has dedicated much time in organizing and developing the Student2Student program, which assists new students as they transition into Steilacoom High School. For her efforts, she was one of 16 students nationwide invited to WestPoint to participate in the Frances Hasselbein Leadership forum.
