A late afternoon announcement from Washington, D.C., says that the employer mandate portion of Obama Care — the Affordable Care Act — will be delayed another year.

All companies who have more than 50 employees are obligated under the new law to provide them with health insurance coverage or pay a penalty. The Treasury Department, home to the Internal Revenue Service that is to enforce the rules, said today.

This new delay does not affect individuals who will buy their own coverage or small businesses that will use health exchange operations (except not in Washington state) to find affordable options.

There will be more detail on this new delay as the evening news cycle progresses.
