Northwest Kidney Centers, one of the nation’s largest dialysis providers, has announced plans to add three outpatient clinics this year, including its first location in Pierce County.

“One of our strategic plan goals is to grow bigger, and we’ll do that in areas where kidney failure is on the rise and the demand for dialysis services continues to increase – which is the case in the south Puget Sound region,” said Joyce F. Jackson, president and CEO of Northwest Kidney Centers.

Two are planned for Federal Way. One, dubbed Northwest Kidney Centers Federal Way East, will be at 33820 Weyerhaeuser Way S., Suite 100. Scheduled to open mid-March, the site — which includes some transferred capacity from Northwest Kidney Centers Auburn — will be capable of providing more than 13,000 dialysis treatments a year. It also features a three-room suite for training people to give themselves dialysis at home and a community education classroom.

The Federal Way West campus will be located at 501 S. 336th St., Suite 110. That facility will include a clinic capable of providing 6,500 dialysis treatments per year and space for training home dialysis patients.

Pierce County’s first location will be Northwest Kidney Centers Fife, slated for 6021 12th St. E., Suite 100. This clinic, scheduled to open in the fall, will be able to provide over 9,000 dialysis treatments each year.

The new facilities represent a 20 percent increase in the number of clinics operated by Northwest Kidney Centers.
