Pierce County is losing another long-time public works executive to neighboring Thurston County. County Commissioners this week announced their recommendation of Jennifer Walker as their new Director of Public Works for Thurston County and she accepted the position as offered by the county manager.
Walker is currently Strategic Planning and Asset Manager for Pierce County Public Works, having advanced to that position over 15 years with the department. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Martin’s University in business administration with a concentration in finance management.
“Jennifer’s background in strategic planning and project management will be a real asset to the Public Works and County leadership teams,” said County Manager Ramiro Chavez. “She will bring a lot of energy into this position and will move Public Works forward in a very strategic direction.”
Walker will assume her new position in mid-October.
