Arthur Murray School of Dance in Tacoma has changed ownership.
Shannon O'Brian, the school's manager for the past two years, has taken over operation of the Tacoma franchise as of yesterday.
O'Brian has been with the Arthur Murray organization since 2002. She said that she looks forward to continue teaching Tacoma and it surrounding areas to dance, as well as to participate in outreach around the community.
“I'm so excited,” O'Brian said. “The previous owner (Amy Wohleb) had wanted to give me the opportunity to take over the business. She has some other things she wanted to be pursuing, so we were both in agreement. We just have a really great relationship. She threw a party for me yesterday in order to send me off.
“I'm excited for the opportunity,” she added. “I think that Tacoma is a wonderful city, a city of destiny, which is so exciting. I've only been in Tacoma working here for the past two years, but just from everything I've seen so far, I'm really excited to be more of a part of community events. Our students are excited. They really like doing charitable work and being involved. In Federal Way when I was there, we participated in Relay for Life and Kent Dancing with the Stars, so we see a great opportunity to meet people and network here.
“Changing people's lives through dance is really my heart and my passion, so I'm so happy to bring that to Tacoma.”
