Blazing Onion, MOD Pizza and frozen yogurt shop Menchie’s will be opening later this year in more than 9,000 square feet of space outside the Tacoma Mall’s food court.

General manager Kurt Webb and other leaders at the mall said they hope the additional dining opportunities will bring more business to existing stores at the mall.

“The addition of these three new restaurants helps solidify our dedication to our shoppers and the Tacoma community,” said Sarah Bonds, director of marketing and business development. “They will help round out our already fantastic selection of restaurants just in time for the holidays which is something I know our shoppers will be excited about.”

The new establishments should be ready to serve guests in November or December, Webb said.

MOD Pizza, a Seattle-based pizza company that launched in November 2008 and now operates eight Washington locations, will occupy a newly built 2,600-square-foot space across from BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse.

Blazing Onion — a local chain known for its unique gourmet burgers, including a meatloaf burger, a buffalo burger and a wild boar burger — will be the largest of the three restaurants. It will occupy a 5,200-square-foot space located next to MOD Pizza.

Frozen yogurt shop Menchie’s, which currently has 13 locations throughout the Seattle-Tacoma area and more 230 locations around the world, will open in a 1,400-square-foot space next to Blazing Onion.
