The Alliance of Women Owned Businesses will begin accepting memberships this month.
“The organization seeks to provide opportunities and resources to meet the real need for education, support and mentoring for women owners,” said Julie Taperro, president of West Sound Workforce and the original organizer of the newly formed group. “We are forming to help women take their business to the next level. We are not a networking group per se, but we know good networking will happen.”
Several types of memberships are available for women who own their own businesses, who are contractors or who are thinking of opening a business. Memberships are also available for non-owners, men and sponsoring businesses.
The next AWOB meeting is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. July 14 at Gig Harbor’s Best Western Wesley Inn. Frank Kenny, CEO of the North Mason County Chamber of Commerce, will present, “Growing Your Business with Social Media.”
