The combined value of distributive trade sales and manufacturers’ shipments for December was $1,230 billion, up 0.7 percent compared to November and 8.9 percent from December 2010, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Manufacturers’ and trade inventories finished the month at $1,555.5 billion, up 0.4 percent compared to November and 7.7 percent from December 2010.
The total business inventories/sales ratio based on seasonally adjusted data at the end of December was 1.26. The December 2010 ratio was 1.28.
