A local investor, Puget Sound Industrial LLC, has bought the former Birds Eye Foods industrial plant in Tacoma’s Nalley Valley. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Washington’s Secretary of State Corporations Division registry shows George Heidgerken of Tacoma as the registered agent for Puget Sound Industrial LLC, a legal entity that was just recorded last month. He also is or has been the agent behind for 18 other business entities around the South Sound, most prominently the former Tumwater brewery brewhouse and downtown Tacoma's post office building.
This 22-acre industrial site, which includes 400,000 square feet of improvements, is located on South 35th between Center Street and the railroad track right-of-way. Before Birds Eye owned it, the site hosted Nalley’s Fine Foods operations for pickles and potato chips manufacturing.
The Seattle office of Jones Lang LaSalle, a nationwide commercial and industrial realtor, advised the seller, Pinnacle Foods Inc.
Pinnacle Foods vacated the property in July 2011. Food production had been a focus at the location for more than 90 years.
