Unemployment rates fell through throughout the South Sound during June,, according to the latest numbers from the state Employment Security Department.

Pierce County's jobless rate fell from 9.5 percent during May to 9.1 percent last month. In Thurston County, the unemployment rate fell from 8.1 percent to 7.7 percent.

Lewis County's jobless rate fell from 13 percent in May to 12.4 percent last month. In Mason County, the unemployment rate dropped from 10.9 percent to 10.5 percent.

The statewide unemployment rate during June was a seasonally adjusted 8.3 percent, just slightly higher than the national rate of 8.2 percent.
