Grocery delivery service Instacart is expanding its Seattle footprint to serve an additional 485,000 households, many of which are located in the South Sound.

The company, whose same-day grocery deliveries have been available in over 80 markets nationwide, is adding, among others, Tacoma, Kent, Auburn, Des Moines, Bonney Lake, Fife, Puyallup, Federal Way, Pacific, Edgewood, Sumner, Milton, Lakewood, Parkland, Steilacoom, University Way and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Overall, the service has added 55 additional zip codes in the Puget Sound area. An email from the company claims that the expanded service area will open up “100 new income earning opportunities for local residents.”

“Since our initial launch in Seattle in 2014, we’ve seen incredible demand from Seattleites to expand service,” said Sean Twersky, Instacart general manager. “This large expansion will allow us to deliver groceries from local retailers to your home in as little as one hour.”
