More than 100 young business ventures are gathering today at the inaugural Business & Innovation Celebration on the Lacey campus of South Puget Sound Community College.

The event, organized by Thurston County Economic Development Council, brings entrepreneurs together for the exchange of ideas for all stages of business, but especially those contemplating a move to the next level.

“What is neat is that fully three-quarters of the firms registered to attend were unknown to us at the EDC,” said Michael Cade, executive director of the agency, “demonstrating that there is a large number of South Sound residents actively building their own economic futures.”

The EDC and local sponsors will be showcasing available resources for start-up businesses during the meetings than run until 2:30 this afternoon.

Innovative companies submitted short videos to tell their stories and a cash prize will be awarded later today, when the videos will be available on the web. Check back her for the links.
