Construction has begun at Lakewood’s H&L Produce, with the expansion to nearly double the store’s current space.
The Pierce County Retailer has tapped fellow South Sound companies Korsmo Construction and James Guerrero Architects to add 3,800 square feet to the east side of its existing store. The addition will yield a larger produce section, extend the meat counter and quadruple the space for frozen and refrigerated items.
The store will remain open throughout construction, and once the addition is complete, the existing retail space will be renovated to streamline the store’s layout. Construction is expected to be finished in April 2017.
“We owe it to the community to give them the best facility,” said Brian Lloyd, H&L’s general manager.
