Next week, Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department will use radio spots to recognize 10 companies that made special efforts to balance business with environmentally responsible practices.

The 10 businesses to be recognized are Brooks Dental Studios, Courtesy Auto Service and Tire and Pacific Container Corporation in Tacoma; the Dental Practice of Dr. Matthew Stadler and Gig Harbor Auto Service in Gig Harbor; Dental Health Associates, Mercedes Auto Service and Tveten’s Auto Clinic in Lakewood; McPhee Dental Group in University Place; and Light Dental Studios, which has locations across Pierce County.

The companies are part of the Health Department’s EnviroStars program, which gives companies incentives to reduce hazardous materials and waste to protect public health, municipal systems, and the environment. Radio spots featuring the companies will air on KPLU beginning Monday.

“For more than a year, the companies improved their environmental practices that, in turn, helped make our communities better places for people to live, learn, work, and play,” said Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department Environmental Health Specialist Troy Rowan. “The radio spots reward their work to become better environmental stewards.”
