Annie Wright Schools’ capital campaign to enhance athletic facilities and grow its endowment surpassed its $12 million goal by nearly 50 percent, according to the school. The total currently stands at $17,773,761, with further pledge payments of up to $2 million expected before the end of 2017.

“From Strength to Strength” headlined the campaign launched in 2014, drawing 344 donors with 10 percent of the gifts exceeding $100,000. Seven gifts of $1 million and above were received.

Success in the campaign will bring even greater scholarship opportunities, according to co-chairs of the campaign steering committee, Lynne Parrott and Deedra Walkey. An all-weather outdoors field opened last spring, with other improvements to include an additional gym to support growing athletics programs for all ages.

Founded in Tacoma in 1884, Annie Wright Schools serve students from age three through high school, co-ed programs in lower and middle schools, plus separate upper schools for boys and girls.
