Four years ago, Jutta Stevens was part of a C.P.A. firm that did work for Golden Services LLC, the Lakewood-based agent for Arpin Van Lines, which relocates thousands of military families annually. Today, she is a finalist for 2016 Financial Executive of the Year.

Company owner Ed Zielinski liked her work so well that he hired her to move inside the company, where “she has made an absolutely exception contribution to our success. She is the most valuable person here,” the CEO said in an interview.

Stevens’ nominator, business coach Kevin Weir, noted that during the extended port slow-down of early 2015, many cargo shipments were tied up on the dock or aboard ships because of a labor dispute at marine terminals. There were delayed deliveries for the military families and sometimes penalties due, even though this local moving firm was powerless to resolve the issues.

“Jutta was able to keep the finances stable and (business) operations were never impacted, even though 70 percent of the company’s traffic comes through the port in some way, shape or form,” Weir noted.

Her leadership helped Golden Services be named one of the top movers by Arpin International in 2015.

Jutta Stevens is one of nine finalists for 2016 Financial Executive of the Year, with the awards being presented at a special luncheon on Tuesday, March 22nd, at Pacific Grill Events Center in downtown Tacoma. Ticket information is at this link.
