The Tacoma City Council gave the go-ahead on July 9 to the Henry Foss Group, in conjunction with the Foss Waterway Development Authority, to begin development on the Foss Waterway property at 1933 Dock Street.
Specifically, the Council approved the building of a five-story, mixed-use site that includes mixed retail and a 167-unit multifamily housing. The site is between the existing Albers Mill and the Interstate 509 cable-stayed bridge over the waterway.
“This helps us fulfill the potential for developing our waterway,” said Council member Ryan Mello.
Groundbreaking could take place as soon as September, and will take 14 to 17 months. BCRA is designing the building.
