Absher Construction Company continued its annual holiday tradition on giving back with its 14th annual Holiday Lights event, when the firm’s employees packed and delivered 600 meals to local families.
Partnering with community-based organizations in each location where Absher has a jobsite, the Puyallup-based company provided 50 holiday dinners per site to families in need on Dec. 20. Each donated meal included a ham, potatoes, vegetables, rolls and dessert.
“Holiday Lights is one of the ways we unite with the whole project team to connect with the community we are helping to build,” said chief operating officer Jeff Richards. “Our projects can take 18 months to three years to build — we become a part of the neighborhood and want to support our neighbors in need.”
This year, Absher employees teamed with the Tukwila Food Pantry, Auburn School District #408, Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, Puyallup Tribe of Indians, North Helpline, Maple Valley Food Bank and Emergency Services, Muckleshoot Housing Authority, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord — among others — to distribute the meals.
Throughout its history, the Holiday Lights program has raised nearly 200,000 and served more than 2,000 families.
