A blaze at a Milton senior living complex has the Fife Milton Edgewood Chamber of Commerce reaching out to local businesses for help.

On Dec. 26, a two-alarm fire broke out at Alder Ridge Senior Apartments in Milton, sending approximately 110 responders from multiple agencies to the facility. Authorities helped evacuate about 150 residents of the complex, all of whom were temporarily moved to Mill Ridge Village.

All immediate needs for the residents are being met, according to April Balsley, the Chamber’s director of membership development. However, the residents will need extended stays in hotel rooms, and the Chamber is reaching out for financial assistance.

An account has been set up at Columbia Bank, with all branches accepting donations. Several Chamber members, including the Cities of Milton, Edgewood and Fife have already donated time, items, food and funds.
