The Thurston County Permit Assistant Center (PAC) will expand its hours beginning on March 1 to 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. County staff provide general information and technical assistance on applying for land use and building permits at the PAC. Expanding the hours provides citizens with more access to staff when going through the permitting process.
Environmental Health and Public Works staff will also be available to provide technical assistance on septic systems, wells, driveways, and grading Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
“Originally, the plan was to hire one more PAC staff in 2018,” said Commission Chair Bud Blake. “We think it is important enough to move forward with an additional position this year and extend the hours to respond to a real need of our constituents.”
“We want to hear from PAC customers to know if this change is helping relieve some of the anxiety of getting a county building permit,” said Commissioner Vice-Chair John Hutchings. It is important that we understand the effectiveness of the change and your experience with our processes.”
“We have heard what voters in this county have told us and we are acting on it,” said Commissioner Gary Edwards. “Our goal is to meet the needs of our citizens, and this is one way to accomplish just that.”
