Clover Park School District received a $91 million grant today from the Department of Defense to improve three elementary schools on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

The grant, which comes from the Pentagon’s Office of Economic Adjustment, will be matched by $23 million from the Clover Park School District and the State of Washington, bringing the total investment to $114 million.

“More than 1,500 South Sound students in military families from the district I have the honor to represent will have improved educational opportunities thanks to these projects,” said Rep. Denny Heck in announcing the grant.

“The replacement of these three elementary schools will enable our students to receive a quality education in buildings that provide for today’s educational needs and reflect our nation’s commitment to our armed services,” said Debbie LeBeau, superintendent of Clover Park School District.
