In the wake of announcing a move to Federal Way from Tacoma, kidney care company DaVita is looking to add to its workforce in the South King County city with its first ever “National Veteran Interview Day” later this month.

The event is set for Saturday, Sept. 19, and will involve seven other national locations in addition to its Federal Way business office.

“We are privileged to have many veterans, current members of the Guard and Reserve, and military spouses as part of the DaVita community,” said Kent Thiry, chairman and CEO of DaVita. “Our teammates from the armed forces share our core values and we look forward to growing their presence in the Village through this hiring initiative.”

Since 2010, DaVita has hired over 3,000 veterans, offering transitional support for teammates with a military background. The hires vary from patient care technicians to the organization's chief development officer.

The Fortune 500 company announced a virtually full departure from Tacoma earlier this month, four years after moving some 350 of its Pierce County based employees to the Weyerhaeuser campus in Federal Way.
