Kidney care provider DaVita has been awarded the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award in honor of its commitment to supporting National Guard and Reserve employees.

“Our commitment is to our community first and a critical part of that is making sure that we support our National Guard and Reserve teammates,” said Kent Thiry, CEO of DaVita. “I am honored that we were selected for this award but even prouder that these individuals choose to work for us.”

DaVita, which is based in Denver but has administrative, accounting and payroll offices in the South Sound, was honored at the 18th annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Awards ceremony in Washington, D.C.

The company was one of 15 employers named recipients of this year's award. The Freedom Award is the Department of Defense's highest honor for employer support of National Guard and Reserve employees.
