Home values climb nationally, fall in South Sound

National home values rose for the second month in a row, climbing 0.7 percent from March to a Zillow Home Value Index of $147,300. This is the largest monthly increase in home values since January 2006, when they rose 0.8 percent, according to the April Zillow Real Estate Market Reports. [Read more]

State liquor store re-auction totals $5.9M

Clover Park Golf Tournament 2012The Washington State Liquor Control Board successfully re-auctioned the rights to apply for a spirits retail liquor license at 18 state-run liquor stores statewide. The sum of individual bids totaled $5.57 million, with rights awarded to 14 successful bidders. The WSLCB ran the auction to resell locations whose original winners had failed, for whatever reason, to complete the purchase process. [Read more]

Salmon to get a ‘rest stop’ on the Green River

In an effort to restore salmon habitat and reduce potential flooding on the Green River, the City of Kent and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have begun construction of a side channel at Riverview Park. [Read more]

State considers raising threshold for water company regulation
