Tacoma-based health care giant CHI Franciscan Health and Kitsap County orthopedic group WestSound Orthopaedics today announced an agreement to establish a formal affiliation.

WestSound Orthopaedics officially joined CHI Franciscan Health’s Franciscan Medical Group effective July 1. The company, which has served the Kitsap area for more than a decade, will join CHI Franciscan’s Franciscan Medical Group, with more than 600 providers.

“Our new affiliation with WestSound Orthopaedics is an exciting direction for Kitsap County residents and families, who will now have increased access to the highest level of orthopedic care and sports medicine in the region,” said Ketul J. Patel, CHI Franciscan Health CEO. “At CHI Franciscan Health, our primary goal is to deliver high-quality and safe care, with exceptional patient experiences. Joining with the team at WestSound Orthopaedics advances this goal.”

“WestSound Orthopaedics has prided itself on providing state of the art care to the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsula communities for more than 10 years,” said Gregory P. Duff, MD, WestSound Orthopaedics’ president. “Alliances such as the one forged today between CHI Franciscan Health and WestSound Orthopaedics are critical to maintaining exceptional patient care in this changing health care landscape. This relationship ensures the patients in this community will receive the highest quality of care moving forward.”

CHI Franciscan is acquiring WestSound Orthopaedics’ assets of medical and office equipment and leasing WestSound Orthopaedics’ Silverdale location. WestSound Orthopaedics will operate as WestSound Orthopaedics, a part of Franciscan Medical Group.
