In observance of its 94th anniversary, members of Shelton-Mason County Chamber of Commerce gathered on Friday to install their new leaders for 2017 and to present annual awards.

Shelton Cinemas, an independently-owned theater in downtown Shelton, was named Business of the Year for making significant contributions benefiting the community.

Minh Dwelley, proprietress of Xinh’s Clam & Oyster House, is Citizen of the Year for her outstanding contributions to enhance the local business community and beyond. 

Branch manager Dan Cooling of Anchor Bank in Shelton earned recognition for his volunteer activities, including with the Chamber, in addition to being president for United Way of Mason County and an active member of Skookum Rotary and Crossroads Housing.

And Alex Apostle, Ph.D., superintendent of Shelton School District, received the President’s Choice award for his work to “weave himself into the community,” integrating schools with local businesses, stakeholders and community leaders.
