The formal description of an Account Manager is to “acquire advertising and sponsorship business for all products in four lines of business: print news journal; digital advertising, daily email newsletter; special publications and leadership recognition programs; and manages advertising sales and customer and production objectives to achieve financial and logistical viability of all product lines.”

The informal description is that the Account Manager is an integral marketing resource for small to medium sized businesses. They become part of their client's marketing team. They are trusted and counted on to bring smart, creative and effective opportunities to their clients and create value with their knowledge and ability to identify solutions for clients' marketing problems. This is not a transactional sales position, successful account managers are driven to be a resource – not just a source.

Candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of South Sound Business market drivers
  • Skill in written and verbal communication
  • Ability to communicate persuasively with a variety of people
  • Ability to identify and nurture opportunities for business development including existing and potential client relationships
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to respond professionally and provide acceptable solutions to objections and concerns
  • Ability to successfully function during times of uncertainty and changing priorities
  • Ability to learn and operate account management software
  • Ability to maintain professional attitude and appearance

Online Sales

This position handles all advertising, in print, sponsorships and digital, for all of the Business Examiner Media Group products and offerings.

This is a full time 40 hours a week position. The pay is, a high, straight commission. Work from home. Flexible. Very deadline oriented. Great team.

Must love creating long term relationships with clients. Have professional manner and great people skills. We would love someone who has experience in sales and preferably business to business, print and/or online sales. But we also know that some of the best salespeople on our team have never sold before.

Editorial Internship & Freelance Positions:

The Business Examiner offers internships for student journalists to gain experience in business reporting with the assistance and feedback of working professionals.   Interns will have the opportunity to report and write about the South Sound business community, and also learn about design and photography.
