More than 100 small business leaders gathered at the Port of Tacoma July 15 to learn about the importance of exporting from their peers in the business community.

Rep. Denny Heck, D-Wash., and Fred P. Hochberg, chairman and president of the Export-Import Bank of the United States, hosted the Global Access Forum.

“We need to get our economy going,” Hochberg told the attendees Monday morning. “Two-and-a-half percent growth is better than the rest of the world. I’d be happy if we had a lot more than that, and we can do that with more exporting, tapping into more global markets.”

Hochberg and Heck said they hope to inspire those who are currently exporting to export more, and those who aren’t to begin exporting.
