Homeowners from Tacoma to Seattle are waging complaints against Beaver Worx LLC for failing to pay its suppliers, according to Better Business Bureau. As a result, complainants are receiving notices of liens on their homes.

Most consumers have paid in full and projects were completed, but they are later told that thousands of dollars in liens have been placed against their homes because Beaver Worx never paid for materials, the BBB said. Complainants allege that the company does not respond to phone calls or inquiries. Of Better Business Bureau's 10 complaints on Beaver Worx, eight remain unanswered. BBB serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington has not been able to reach owner Fred Beaver at the company's Tacoma address or Puyallup post office box.

According to the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, the company's construction contractor's license was suspended on March 29, 2012.

The liens are legal. If unpaid, businesses, suppliers or individuals hired by contractors have the right to demand payments from homeowners and make claims against properties.
