Daily Biz Briefs is highlighting individual honorees from the 2013 “40 Under Forty” recognition program. In each of the next 13 editions, we will feature two from the class of 40 youthful leaders in the South Sound.

David Devine joined Columbia Bank as vice president and was immediately struck by how it could help customers achieve their dreams. As a creative type, he started in banking as a teller, but moved into marketing services and became senior vice president leading the marketing division within eight years. He is most passionate about being a successful and open role model in the banking industry for LGBT youth in the community, and wishes he had learned the lesson of Patience earlier in his career.

While studying her way through pre-med courses, Bethany Sexton found an Economics course fascinating, so she changed her major to Business Administration. Some years later, when she was wait-listed but never accepted to medical school, she applied her numbers training to business aspects of health care facilities.

Today, she is vice president of revenue cycle for MultiCare Health System just five years after being recruited to Tacoma.Bethany says the most challenging yet rewarding thing she’s ever done is being a parent.
