With many of Washington’s rural counties still waiting for the economic recovery to trickle down from Seattle, the Association of Washington Business is looking to convene business leaders to help kick-start the process.

The AWB will gather lawmakers and leaders from rural economic development councils, chambers of commerce and employers for a first-ever Rural Jobs Summit on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at its Olympia headquarters.

The group will discuss ways to encourage economic development in rural regions across the state and consider the formation of a Rural Caucus within the Legislature to begin working on solutions to the uneven economy. Also on the agenda are a rural legislative report and a discussion of the economics of rural areas.
