Ann Leda Shapiro, a self-identified woman visual artist, age 60 or over, is receiving an unrestricted $10,000 award from Artist Trust. The prize is in recognition of her more than 25 years committed to creating art.
“I am appreciative beyond words,” says Shapiro, “to have been selected for the Twining Humber award. To have my work seriously considered and seen, and to receive recognition and financial support is a first for me.”
This year, Artist Trust received 14 applications for this award, with six of them working and residing outside of King County. The Trust is a non-for-profit organization whose sole mission is to support and encourage individual artists workin in all disciplines in order to enrich community life throughout the state.
