Northwest Sinfonietta – Bach in the Ballroom
December 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm$10 – $40
Northwest Sinfonietta celebrates the holiday season with a ‘mostly Baroque’ evening featuring Bach’s beloved fifth Brandenburg Concerto. In the spirit of a holiday gathering, this program spotlights two talented performers from within our musical family: Co-Concertmaster Denise Dillenbeck and principal flutist Darrin Thaves.
The performance opens with one of Bach’s most beloved instrumental works, the fifth Brandenburg Concerto. Harpsichordist Jonathan Oddie, who has performed as soloist and ensemble member throughout Europe and North America, joins the Sinfonietta for the first time performing one of the most virtuosic parts in the instrument’s repertoire. Darrin Thaves takes center stage for a concerto by Carl Phillip Emmanuel. Denise Dillenbeck returns to close the first half with a simple and beautiful work by Gluck. After intermission, the Sinfonietta returns to perform Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings. This enchanting program is sure to inspire and energize you as 2018 draws to a close. “
