Desmond McGahern will begin his role as the new chief operations officer for the Department of Enterprise Services on Sept. 16, replacing Emily Beck, who departed in June.
McGahern previously served as the COO for Tacoma-based Globe Machine Manufacturing, an industrial paper, automotive, and building product manufacturer. He also has worked in operations management positions for companies like H20 Jet, Simpson Door Company, and Albany International Corporation.
Originally from Ireland, McGahern has been a resident of Tumwater for the past 22 years. He has a master of business administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York and a master’s in mechanical engineering from the University of Cork in Ireland, and specializes in strategic planning, process involvement, and supply chain management.
