Shareka Fortier-Edwards, a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP) and previous South Sound Business 40 Under 40 honoree, became the first executive director for equity, diversity, and inclusion at Clover Park Technical College this month.

Fortier-Edwards worked as the diversity and inclusion program manager for MultiCare Health System Center for Health Equity & Wellness where she led the Cultural Diversity Council and Health Equity Community Advisory Board.

Fortier-Edwards earned a bachelor’s degree in social science from University of Washington in 2007. Currently, she is working toward a master’s degree in leadership and management from Western Governors University.

“Shareka brings a wealth of experience in leadership, training, and strategic planning around equity and inclusion,” Dr. Joyce Loveday, president of Clover Park Tech, said. “She will play a critical role in helping us improve our ability to effectively support underrepresented students and eliminate gaps in the successful completion and employment of students. I’m thrilled to have Shareka join our community.”
