Tacoma’s Community Cleanup program is a partnership between the City of Tacoma and different neighborhood groups, helping residents dispose of large amounts of trash and recycling (including shredded paper this year) easily and ethically.
In 2019, the city will sponsor 15 Community Cleanups around Tacoma from April 27 to August 17. Residents in single-family homes and duplexes can clear their properties and drop off unwanted items at a nearby location. The program saves residents a trip to the Tacoma Recovery & Transfer Center.
In 2018, neighborhoods across Tacoma got rid of almost 900 tons of unwanted items during the Community Cleanups, which were made successful by more than 400 volunteers.
