Starting Sept. 1, the City of Kent will begin accepting applications for its 2019 Business or Leisure Tourism Promotion Grants. The grants are awarded to fund marketing, operation, and promotion costs associated with events or projects that bring visitors to Kent and promote the city as a destination for business or leisure.

Eligible organizations include nonprofits, convention and visitors’ bureaus, public facilities districts, destination marketing organizations, chambers of commerce, and municipalities.

Applications will be reviewed by the city’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) in October, and funding recommendations will then be made to the Kent City Council. Grant money will be awarded in 2019.

“The LTAC is making a concerted effort to ensure different organizations are aware of this opportunity to obtain financial backing. While the process is competitive, the committee wants to support those with innovative ideas to elevate Kent’s profile, both from a business or entertainment perspective,” Council President Bill Boyce said in a statement.

In 2017, the LTAC awarded over $325,000 in grant funding.

Applications must be submitted online between Sept. 1 and Sept. 30. Grant requirements, and the application, once it goes live, can be accessed here.
