Starting Jan. 10, the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard & Intermediate Maintenance Facility in Bremerton will begin recruiting for 750 new entry-level positions, the shipyard announced today.
Job applications will be available starting Thursday at usajobs.gov, and will remain online until 8:59 p.m. on Jan. 14.
Period trainee hiring rounds, like this upcoming one, are the most common way for civilians to enter the shipyard workforce, according to a statement released by the agency.
The following positions will be open for recruitment:
-Ship Inactivation and Dismantler: These workers help dismantle, remove, and dispose of materials and equipment. The position will be available under USAJOBS announcement number DE-10390193-19-JEH.
-Tool and Parts Attendant: These workers will inventory tools and parts, receive incoming items, and store items away. The position will be available under USAJOBS announcement number DE-10390299-19-JEH.
-Helper (various trades): These workers will assist other trade workers with various tasks. The position will be available under USAJOBS announcement number DE-10390071-19-JEH.
-Materials Expediter: These workers will help keep production workers supplied with certain tools, materials, and equipment. The position will be available under USAJOBS announcement number DE-10390365-19-JEH.
Those hired during the recruitment period will be brought on at grade WG-01, given “full-time seasonal” status, and be eligible for benefits and promotion up to grade WG-05.
Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old, a United States citizen, and able to fulfill security and physical fitness requirements.
