What is a business to do when it has tackled its city, regional, state, and maybe even national sales goals? For some businesses, international sales are the next viable option when it comes to growth. However, the idea of breaking into the export game may make a business owner feel like he or she is in uncharted waters.
Fortunately for Washington businesses, the Washington Export Outreach Team was established in 2013 for just this purpose. This collaborative team of export assistance agencies provide business owners with the tools they need to break into international sales.
In addition to a plethora of resources and helpful members, the team also hosts local workshops aimed at giving business owners a crash course in export matters including the development of an export business plan, honing an ability to spot qualified buyers and distributors, as well as lessons on how to mitigate non-payment risks or obtain financing.
One such event is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. to noon on Nov. 15 at the Auburn Community and Event Center in Auburn. A partnership with the City of Auburn, this event will also include a free breakfast and the opportunity to hear from local small business experts on their successes with exporting goods.
