Parker, Smith & Feek, one of the 60 largest insurance brokerage firms in the United States, held a grand opening for its new Tacoma office on Thursday, Aug. 16.

Founded in Seattle in 1937, and later relocated to Bellevue, the firm opened its second office in Anchorage in 1986. In 2016, the firm added a branch in Portland, making the Tacoma branch the company’s fourth location.

This expansion speaks to the growth of the region, and specifically the growth of downtown Tacoma, which has more than $1 billion being invested in its downtown infrastructure and an increasing volume of businesses and individuals alike moving to the area, prompting a tour from the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce next month.

Tacoma manager Cliff Rudolph expressed his excitement for the expansion. “We look forward to being a part of the business and philanthropic community of the South Sound, and really embedding ourselves in the community here,” Rudolph said.

President and CEO of the Tacoma–Pierce County Chamber of Commerce Tom Pierson extended a warm welcome to the business, and expressed his confidence in its ability to contribute to the economic growth of the area. Pierson and Rudolph then facilitated the official ribbon cutting ceremony with staff members of the Tacoma office, celebrating the opening of the branch.

Approximately 200 people attended the celebration at Thea’s Landing. Staff members, clients, and community members enjoyed beverages and hors d’oeuvres, food truck tacos, boat rides through Thea Foss Waterway, and tours of the new office space.
