After more than a century operating as an independent small business supplying adhesives, sealants, and coatings to construction and manufacturing industries in the Pacific Northwest, Atlas Supply officials announced this week the company has been acquired by Herndon, Virginia-based Beacon Roofing Supply.
“Joining Beacon presents a tremendous opportunity for our family and Atlas’ loyal customers and employees,” said owners Jan Siers and John Ittes in a joint statement. “We chose to align with Beacon because Beacon shares our work ethic, business values, and customer-first mentality, and because Beacon presented the greatest long-term growth opportunities for our family and all of our employees. We are very excited for Atlas’ future with Beacon.”
Founded in Seattle in 1917, Atlas Supply has grown to six locations, with stores in Seattle, Tacoma, Spokane, and Mountlake Terrace in Washington, as well as locations in Portland, Oregon, and Boise, Idaho.
Beacon Roofing Supply provides residential and commercial roofing materials and operates more than 550 locations throughout the U.S. and Canada. In 2016, the publicly traded company posted revenues of $4.1 billion, and net income of $90 million.
Siers and Ittes plan to retire, according to the statement, and the company’s current management team will continue to lead Atlas Supply.
“Atlas is a tremendous addition to Beacon and significantly strengthens our sealant, coatings, and waterproofing business in the robust Pacific Northwest market,” said Beacon Roofing Supply President and CEO Paul Isabella. “The Atlas acquisition enables Beacon to serve customers along the entire west coast and a portion of the Southwest and enhances our strategy to grow our strong margin complementary products business. We are excited to welcome the entire Atlas team to Beacon.”
