The deadline to apply to Walmart’s annual Open Call is Monday, Aug. 10.

Now in its seventh year, the Open Call event — being held virtually on Oct. 1 — will allow U.S. manufacturers the opportunity to pitch to Walmart buyers for a chance to land their products in Walmart stores nationwide.

“For the first time, this year’s Open Call event will be virtual, enabling even broader participation from potential new suppliers,” Laura Phillips, Walmart senior vice president for global sourcing & U.S. manufacturing, said in a statement. “We know how important this opportunity is for many small businesses, especially this year, and we are looking forward to seeing the new product submissions and meeting potential new suppliers.”

Bill Tenneson, co-founder of Washington-based Mason Jar lid manufacturer Intelligent Lids and 2018 participant in the Open Call, praised the program and encouraged Washington small businesses to apply.

“Walmart’s Open Call provided a pathway for a company like ours to meet many Walmart professionals and get the assistance we needed to successfully launch in-store,” Tenneson said in a statement. “We had a successful trial in over 300 stores in 2018 and our Mason Jar lids are now stocked in over 2,100 stores nationwide.”

In addition to pitch meetings, participants in the virtual event will have the opportunity to hear from Walmart leadership during breakout sessions.
